KohaLa makes a start in France

The 1st general assembly of KohaLa took place on October 4th 2007 at the Ecole des Mines in Paris (Host of the 1st KohaConf in 2006).

KohaLa is a not-for-profit organisation that has as it's objectives the
development, documentation, protection, promotion and distribution of the open source Library Management System: Koha.
The twenty six people who attended the assembly were librarians and/or IT specialists, Koha users, developers or people who are interested in the Koha project.
There was a strong representation of the tertiary education sector, although representatives of SAN Ouest-Provence and of the Institut Protestant de Theologie (first users of Koha V3.0 in production) did not attend.
The essential purpose of the general assembly was the adoption of the
constitution and by-laws of the association and the election of the
committee which then elected an executive of 4 people who will be
responsible for the day to day functioning of KohaLa.
The committee is comprised of:

- Sylvia Bozan : Ingénieure de recherche responsable de ressources documentaires, CNRS-Paris 5, Treasurer of KohaLa
- Dominique Girod-Chanzy : Documentaliste, IN2P3, Assistant Treasurer of KohaLa
- Francine Masson : Conservateur, ENSMP, President of KohaLa
- Pascale Nalon : Bibliothécaire, ENSMP, Secretary of KohaLa
- Jérôme Pouchol : Directeur de la politique documentaire, Médiathèque Ouest Provence
- Paul Poulain : Informaticien/développeur, BibLibre
- MJ Ray, Développeur, Turo Technology LLP

Le 4 octobre dernier s'est tenu à l'Ecole des Mines de Paris, la première assemblée générale de KohaLa.
KohaLa est une association, au sens français du terme, qui a pour objet le développement, la documentation, la protection, la promotion, et la diffusion du logiciel libre de gestion de bibliothèque Koha.
Cette première assemblée regroupait 26 personnes, bibliothécaires et/ou informaticiens, utilisateurs, développeurs ou simplement intéressées au développement de Koha.
Une grande part d'entre elles étaient issues du monde de l'enseignement supérieur, à l'exception notable des représentants du SAN Ouest-Provence et de l'Institut Protestant de Théologie, premiers utilisateurs en production de la V3.0.
Cette assemblée a essentiellement consistée en l'approbation des divers textes (Statuts, Règlement intérieur) et l'élection du conseil d'administration, qui a choisi en son sein quatre personnes chargées du fonctionnement au jour le jour.
Ce conseil est composé de :

Dans un premier temps, un certain nombre de démarches administratives vont nous occuper.
Lorsque cette phase sera terminée, l'élaboration de projets et de leur financement sera notre objectif.
