Portage County Public Library Goes Live on the South Central Library System’s Bibliovation Union Catalog
North Bethesda, MD, May 30, 2014- The Portage County Public Library (Stevens Point), comprised of 4 branches in Portage Country, Wisconsin, has gone live in the South Central Library System (SCLS) Bibliovation LINKcat union catalog for all collection and patron management services.
The Portage County library staff worked with the SCLS ILS Support Team members and LibLime Project Management to migrate bibliographic, item, patron data, holds and circulation transactions from their legacy ILS system. Portage County staff is enjoying autonomy within the Bibliovation union catalog, as Bibliovation includes support for local ownership of items records linked to communal bibliographic records and local control of circulation rules, while their patrons benefit by having free and open access to all materials of the participating libraries via the union catalog. With the addition of Portage County, there are over 3.5 million records in the SCLS Bibliovation LINKcat union catalog.
